This episode continues the short series focusing on “decorating” the outside of your home. You can anticipate that there will be a few more “how to decorate on the outside” videos as the show heads down the homestretch of this season.

Troy and Dina take things out to the curb, to share tips about some very literal “curb appeal”.

Have you thought about incorporating your mail box into the design of your home? Have you considered the directional growth pattern of the trees you plant? (Some grow “up”; others grow “out”.) Have you paid attention to the position of powerlines and driveway asphalt?

Answering these questions will help you map your outdoor decorating ideas, and keep things the way you intend them to look for years to come.

This edition of “Decorating Date Night” brings you the final reveal of the Andrew & Dani basement remodel project.  Yes, “Decorating Date Night” in the middle of the afternoon!

One of the most challenging things many people will ever attempt to do themselves in their house is to cut and install crown molding.  Many, after doing it once will never try doing it again.  It’s so darn hard to get the angles of the cuts right!  Unless…

There’s a simple and easy way to achieve the look and feel of crown molding without first getting an engineering degree or hiring a mathematician.  Troy calls this DIY crown molding process the “cheaters” way to crown molding success.  And Dina walks you through it in this episode of show.  As she says, it’s so easy you can do it, too!

Troy and Dina pay a visit to their daughter and son-in-law and find them in the early stages of turning an unfinished basement into brand new living space.

There’s possibly a tip or two that you can gain for a project of your own.

This project will require loads of tender loving care.

No one has lived in this house for nearly four years.  The first step will be remediation.  Then repair.  Then installation of new design items.  Then the finishing touches.

Dina walks through how things look now, as she lays out the stages to come, in this tour of the building.

This episode of Decorating Date NIGHT actually takes place (partially) in the middle of the afternoon.  🙂  It comes to you in three video installments.

There’s a new floorplan for this mudroom (and laundry room), including the addition of a mirrored closet, repurposed cabinets, additional lighting, and installation of crown molding (which is one of the most challenging aspects of the project).

Part A features a repeat appearance from everyone’s favorite contractor “Bob the Builder”.  It captures the start of the project.

Part B features the status of the project as it nears its end.  So, with the construction crew gone for the day and the noisy equipment shut down, Dina provides an update.  This is the second of the three videos which comprise this one episode.  By the way, look for a cameo by the nearly 16 year old pup, Angel.  🙂

Part C features the final reveal of the project as the transformation from mudroom into brand new laundry room is complete.  Dina details the design and decorating choices that were made for the project.  (There’s again a short cameo from “Angel Dog”.)

 

This very impromptu “Decorating Date Night” is a family affair.  Troy and Dina, along with their son, daughter, son-in-law, and father work together to redo dining room chairs.

These chairs were quite the find!  Six chairs were discovered on Facebook Marketplace for $30.  Add in $25 for new fabric, a few bucks for staples, plus a bit of touch up with a marker, and the total project cost was less than $60.  That’s less than $10 per chair!
